Best Web Scraper Chrome Extensions in 2026: 5 Compared
Easy Scraper AI8 min read
Short answer
The best web scraper Chrome extension depends on the job. Instant Data Scraper is the quickest for a single list. Easy Scraper AI adds detail pages, URL lists and resumable runs for free. Web Scraper suits crawls you design yourself, Data Miner suits shared recipes, and Thunderbit suits people who would rather describe the fields to an AI.

How this comparison was made
One of the five is ours, so here is exactly what this is and is not. We read each extension's Chrome Web Store listing and pricing page on October 5, 2026 and wrote down what they state. For Easy Scraper AI we also ran the examples that appear in our guides. We did not benchmark speed or accuracy across websites, so this compares what each tool offers and costs, not lab results. Prices and limits change; the sources are linked at the end.
The five at a glance
| Extension | Best for | Setup | Price | Detail pages | Export |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Instant Data Scraper | One list or table, right now | None: it guesses the list | Free | Not listed | Excel, CSV |
| Easy Scraper AI | Lists plus detail pages and URL lists | None for lists; click fields once for detail pages | Free | Yes, with a saved template | CSV, JSON, copy |
| Web Scraper | Multi-level crawls you design | You build a sitemap of selectors | Free for local use; paid cloud | Yes | CSV, XLSX |
| Data Miner | Sites that already have a recipe | Pick a public recipe or write one | Free up to 500 pages a month; paid from $19.99 a month | On paid plans | Download; Google Sheets on paid plans |
| Thunderbit | Describing fields in plain words | An AI model suggests the columns | Free for 6 pages a month; paid from $9 a month, billed yearly | On paid plans | Data export |
What each one is like
Instant Data Scraper
The original one-click scraper. Open a page, click the icon, and it highlights the table or list it thinks you want; a button tries the next candidate if it guessed wrong. Its listing describes pagination, infinite scrolling and export to Excel or CSV, all free. It keeps nothing between visits: every session starts from scratch, and there is no notion of visiting each item to read more fields. For a quick list that is exactly right.
Easy Scraper AI
Ours. It opens in the side panel, detects the main list and shows one field per column with a sample value. Paging has three explicit options — Next page, Load more, Scroll down — and a run can be stopped and resumed. Beyond lists, you can click the fields you want on a detail page, save them as a template and run a whole list of URLs through it; our guide on how to scrape a list of URLs shows a real run. Everything is free and the data stays in your browser.
What it does not do: it has no scheduler and no cloud, so nothing happens while the browser is closed, and it is new, so it has no long track record to point to.
Web Scraper
The most powerful of the five if you are willing to learn it. You describe a crawl as a "sitemap": which links to follow, which elements to take at each level. That handles category → product → review structures that one-click tools cannot. The extension is free for local use, and the same sitemaps can be moved to a paid cloud service that runs without your browser. Expect to spend your first hour learning selectors.
Data Miner
Built around recipes: saved extraction rules for particular sites, many of them shared publicly. When a recipe exists for your site, you get results in a couple of clicks; when it does not, you write one. The free plan covers 500 pages a month and is restricted on some domains, and several features, including crawling through detail pages, sit on paid plans starting at $19.99 a month.
Thunderbit
The AI-first option. You tell it which columns you want, or let it suggest them, and a language model reads the page. That copes with messy layouts where structural detection struggles. The trade-off is a credit model: the free tier covers 6 pages a month, paid plans start at $9 a month billed yearly, and subpage scraping is a paid feature. If you are weighing this kind of tool, what the AI in an AI web scraper does explains the difference between AI that runs on every page and AI that only helps with setup.
How to choose
- You need the list in front of you, once: Instant Data Scraper or Easy Scraper AI. Both work without setup.
- You also need fields from each item's own page, at no cost: Easy Scraper AI, or Web Scraper if the crawl is more than two levels deep.
- You will repeat the same job on the same site: Easy Scraper AI remembers columns and paging per site; Data Miner and Web Scraper save recipes and sitemaps.
- The page layout is irregular and hard to detect: Thunderbit, within its page allowance.
- You need it to run every night without you: none of the free extensions. Look at the paid cloud tiers, or at a desktop tool such as Octoparse.
If you are specifically replacing Instant Data Scraper, the page on Instant Data Scraper alternatives goes into that switch in more detail.
Before you install any scraper extension
- Read the privacy section of the listing: does scraped data stay in your browser, or is it sent to a server?
- Check who publishes it and when it was last updated.
- Look at what the free tier really includes; page limits are easy to miss.
- Remember that the tool does not decide what you may collect. That depends on the site and the data — see whether web scraping is legal.
